Pietro Alessandro Yon (1886-1943) from Concerto Gregoriano Finale
Corrado Cavalli, a native of Turin, Italy, is the organist of St John Cantius Church in Chicago. He studied at the Giuseppe Verdi National Conservatory in Turin, where he was awarded two Master’s Degrees in organ summa cum laude, and in Choral Conducting and Choral Composition, also summa cum laude. He attended masterclasses held by the famous professors Tagliavini, Robillard, Lohmann and others. Among his many awards, he was the winner of the 12th National Organ Competition Città di Viterbo Pinchi Prize and of the Turin National Conservatorys Silipo Prize. As soloist, he has performed in many international festivals in Italy, Austria, France, Germany, Ireland, Norway, United Kingdom, Poland, Monaco, Slovakia and in the USA. He has also played with the Italian National Symphonic Orchestra of the RAI, the Ensemble Orchestral des Alpes et de la Mer, the Orchestra Filarmonica di Torino and many others. He has recorded CD’s for the Effatà and Elledici and Elegia Records music labels, and published for Italian editions “Armeiln musica”, “Musica Practica” and for the American edition “Biretta Books”.
He is a member of the American Guild of Organists, of the Church Music Association of America, of Associazione Italiana Santa Cecilia.
Prior to his post at St. John Cantius Church, he was music theory professor at the “Corsi di formazione musicale della città di Torino,” and his positions as organist at S.Giulia and San Filippo in Turin, and his position on the Commission for Sacred Music for the Archdiocese of Turin.
