Dr. David Henning is the Director of Music and Parish Organist at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, having joined the St. Martin’s staff in 2006. St. Martin’s Parish’s Music Program features a varied choir program (the Parish Choir includes 75 volunteers and 30 staff singers) and a respected Music Series. As Director of Music at St. Martin’s, David has lead the Parish Choir on six European tours, including appearances at St. Paul’s Cathedral (London), Westminster Abbey, Lincoln Cathedral, Wells Cathedral, Hexham Abbey, York Minster, Durham Cathedral, St. Giles Cathedral, St. Patrick’s Cathedral (Dublin), St. Stephen's Cathedral (Vienna), and St. Vitus Cathedral (Prague), St. Sulpice (Paris), La Madeleine (Paris) and Chartres Cathedral. Recently, David has presented concerts in St. Paul’s Cathedral, London and Grace Cathedral, San Francisco.
David has won a number of organ competitions, including the University of Michigan’s International Organ Playing Competition. David earned the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Iowa. He was a Rhan scholar and held a teaching fellowship while at the University of Iowa completing his studies.
David has served as Dean of the Houston Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and has served as Convener of the Texas District of the AGO. David served as Worship Chair for the 2016 American Guild of Organists National Convention which was held in Houston and was Director of Music and Organist for the Opening Convocation of the Houston National AGO Convention.
