Jack Coen is an NYC-based composer, lyricist, pianist and organist. He is the Organist and Choir Director at Temple Emanu-El, NYC, and is the Organist and Choir Director at the Church of the Epiphany in the Gramercy neighborhood of Manhattan, where he founded the Schola Cantorum.
When not working in sacred spaces, Jack concertizes as a pianist. He has performed the complete solo piano works of Maurice Ravel. He is an adjunct lecturer at CUNY Baruch College, where he directs the undergraduate chorus and teaches music theory and history.
Jack is a member of the BMI Lehman Engel Workshop, where he received the 2018 Harrington Award for Outstanding Achievement in Musical Theatre Writing. Stephen Sondheim called his work as a composer and lyricist, "skillful and graceful" & "remarkably craftsmanlike."
