Seung Hee Cho is a virtuoso organist, pianist, church musician, chamber collaborator, and conductor. Renowned for her refined artistic flair across a wide repertoire, Dr. Cho has performed at prestigious venues including Princeton University, Longwood Gardens (PA), Sejong Center for the Performing Arts (Seoul, South Korea), St. Thomas Episcopal Church (NYC).
She earned her Doctor of Musical Arts in Organ Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music, where she also completed postdoctoral studies in choral and orchestral conducting. During this time, she studied with distinguished artists such as organists Russell Saunders, Michael Farris, David Higgs, and Gerre Hancock, and conductors Mendi Rodan, William Weinert, and Neil Varon. Dr. Cho also holds Master and Bachelor degrees in Music from Yonsei University—the most prestigious institution in Korea for organ performance and church music—and an Artist Diploma in Piano Performance from the rigorous Seoul Arts School.
With over thirty years of experience as an organist and church music director in Seoul, Buffalo, Philadelphia, New Jersey, and NYC, Dr. Cho is a veteran of liturgical music. Currently, she is the Music Director and Organist at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Rochester, Michigan, overseeing all music programming. As artistic director of the “Harmony in the Hills” concert series, she collaborates with renowned guest artists to bring exceptional music to the Southeast Michigan community. She also serves on the board of the American Guild of Organists in Detroit chapter.
Passionate about her art, Dr. Cho strives to create music that transcends the secular, fostering deeper connections within individuals and communities. In her free time, she enjoys discovering new restaurants with her husband and son, attending shows across various genres, and relaxing in nature.
