Travis Baker began music lessons at the age of seven and began learning the organ whilst a chorister at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Melbourne. He soon became Assistant Organist at the Cathedral and remained there while studying for his Bachelor of Music (HONS.) at The University of Melbourne. Having met and studied with Dame Gillian Weir at a European Summer School, Travis moved to London to further his recital career and continue studying with Dame Gillian. His recital career takes him throughout the UK and mainland Europe, Scotland, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, The Netherlands and Denmark. 2010 saw Travis touring as far afield as New Zealand and a six-week tour of the USA, and he toured the USA again in 2015. His growing reputation led to an invitation to perform the 2011 AGM Recital for the Organ Club (UK). Last year, Travis played in New Zealand in January, in a celebrity series at Bromley Parish Church and at St. Matthew’s, Westminster; in July he performed in Germany and Switzerland.
Travis is Director of Music for The Bromley Boys Singers, a competition-winning group of approximately 60 boys based in southeast London. The four choirs (training through to senior) cover a wide range of material and perform in prestigious venues such as St Martin in the Fields, the Barbican and the Royal Festival Hall. Recently they enjoyed a successful tour of Paris and in early 2015 they won the Cornwall International Choral Festival. In addition to The Bromley Boy Singers, Travis works with the Boys of Westminster Abbey and Glyndebourne Education Department.
