Monsignor Ritchie's old companion, Lexington was added to St. Patrick's Cathedral's Advent Creche in 2012. Lexington was a beautiful yellow lab, loved by all at the Cathedral. Sadly, Lexington passed away in March of 2012.
The inspiration for the statue of Lexington in the Creche was simple. If the Shepherds had sheep, they must have had a dog to herd the sheep. Monsignor Ritchie reached out to the sculptors who created the other figures in the Creche, and the rest is history.
While Lexington's presence is missed at the Cathedral every day, we can feel especially close to him during the Advent and Christmas season as his statue stands in the Creche.
